Kelly J Helvey-Bayon Obituary

Kelly Jean Helvey passed away on July 12th, 2021, she was 56 years old. Kelly and her family has resided in Longmont since April of 2000. Kelly was born October 24th, 1964 in Hays, KS to Martha Jeanne Helvey and Ray Allen Helvey. Kelly arrived in Boulder CO in January of 1965 and grew up in East Boulder attending Aurora 7, Eisenhower, Burbank Jr High and Fairview High School, Kelly was 13 when her brother Ryan arrived Dec of 1977. She loved taking care of her brother and they have remained close thru the years. She graduated from FairView High School and VO TECH in 1983, with the highest certificate available in Secretarial skills. She worked for REMAX and KFC during High School and moved to Ft Collins to work for a Plumbing Company with her Dad Ray.

She moved to San Jose CA in 1987 and held several jobs.. eventually working for the Wilson Sonsini Law firm in San Fransisco. She was married to Tom Mauro for 2 years and after a divorce decided to move back to CO in May of 1996.

Upon returning to Boulder CO, Kelly owned and ran Pockets consignment store for 7 years. While working here she completed her Associate Degree in Business Mgmt. In June of 1999, Kelly married longtime friend Charles Bayon and had two boys Scott Bayon and Steven Bayon. Kelly loved being a Mom and cherished the days she spent raising her boys.

As a child Kelly loved dancing and gymnastics. She starting dancing (Ballet and Tap) at 5 years old and spent much of her adolescence in the gym with her love of gymnastics. She loved many activities including bowling, skating, skiing, water sports, camping and concerts. Kelly’s family belonged to St Martins Catholic Church in table mesa thru High School and then belonged to St Johns Church in Longmont with her husband and 2 boys. Kelly loved dogs, Poodles was her dog of choice, since it was determined from the time she was 5 years she had allergies to dogs that shed.

She is survived by Husband Charles Bayon and son Steven Bayon, Mother Marty Helvey and Brother Ryan Helvey. Aunts Judy and Terry Fiala of Salina Ks. Eileen Gosser of Wakeeny Ks, Carol and Larry Otto of Warroad MN, Jan Helvey of Glen Elder Ks; Uncles Ron Schulte of Tipton Ks, Ken Schulte of Salina Ks. as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her son Scott Bayon who died August 12th of 2020, Father Ray Helvey, Grandparents Clifton and Lola Helvey, Matt and Eleanor Schulte. Mother in Law Grace Bayon-Hauser and her husband Wayne Hauser. Uncles Gary Helvey and Neil Schulte.

A funeral mass will be held for Kelly on August 12th, 2021, starting at 2pm at Sacred Heart of Mary Church located at 6739 S Boulder Rd #101, Boulder, CO 80303. The burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery directly after the mass. Kelly will be laid to rest next to her son Scott as they can both now rest in peace. There will be a reception directly after the burial starting at approximately 3pm at Sacred Heart as well. We will also be celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Scott’s passing at the reception, We invite her friends and family to join us. Kelly was a kind soul and touched many lives, she will be missed.
